Nature's Imprint: Rhyannan’s Linocut Explorations

In 2024, Rhyannan Hall ventured into the world of linocut, a journey that would profoundly influence her renowned shibori work. This exploration of a new medium sparked the development of an innovative shibori technique, showcasing the interconnectedness of artistic practices. The linocut pieces, inspired by the natural world, reflected Hall's keen eye for texture, negative space, and the beauty of imperfection - elements that resonated deeply with her shibori practice.

One notable piece from this series, 'The Harvest Moon', was created around Samhain, embodying the cyclical nature of changing seasons. This thought-provoking work juxtaposed symbols of endings and beginnings: a skull representing death, an acorn symbolizing growth, and a pumpkin signifying sustenance. Overhead, a waning moon further emphasized themes of conclusion and deceleration. Through this piece, Hall demonstrated her ability to weave complex narratives and natural symbolism into her art, regardless of the medium.
