This is a fine-art giclee print of my original shibori art work.
It was created using a contemporary adaptation of a Japanese tradition called arashi shibori. Cloth is first bound to a pole before being compressed into pleats and dyed. It is a very rare art form and only one traditional Japanese practitioner remains alive today.
I am a contemporary textiles artist in Bristol, UK. Re-imagineing textiles from the Far East and making it relevant to my time and my place. We need textiles for a socially just and environmentally sustainable future. My work was shortlisted for the international Kogei Award and on show in the Toyama Museum of Art and Design Japan in 2021.
